Hi, I’m sam.
I'm an Executive Life Coach and I help people get through hell—and thrive.
What kinds of people and what kinds of hell?
People like Catherine, who had to recover from a confidence crushing layoff from a job that was draining her lifeforce. Before she could open herself to what she really wanted—a career that stretched her intellectually, made her feel valued, and allowed her to be home for dinner (not a fancy schmancy title)—she had to march through her own personal 'high achiever' hell—unemployment. And she'd tell you it was the best thing to happen to her. Spoiler: she got everything she really wanted.
Or Kevin, who, in coming to America to be with the love of his, had to give up a hard earned career as a physician. If he wasn't a doctor, who was he? He was feeling lost and disoriented. Kevin had to experience a total loss of identity before he could imagine "What next?" For Kevin, that ended up being an MBA. Happy to report that Kevin was recently admitted to UC Berkeley Haas School of Business (Yay!) where he plans to bring his medical expertise to the business world, inventing solutions that help thousands and thousands of patients—a scale that would have been difficult to achieve in family medicine.
Or Amanda, who found the courage to go back to school and pursue her passion for marriage and family counseling after working for 10 years in finance. The flames of her inferno? Admitting this is what she actually wanted, moving past the fear of her finances—and, telling her family who wasn't exactly excited about the whole thing.
I help people who feel stuck, blocked, and just blahhhhh.
About their careers. About their life. About their relationships.
People who are just freakin exhausted.
People who think, "is this it?"
People who think, "What's wrong with me?"
I help people...
Get their groove back. Their confidence. Their creativity. Their energy. That personal brand of "je ne sais quoi." Who they were before life got bumpy—or who they want to be next.
Get clarity on what they want—and how to get it.
Get that “LFG” swag back in their step.
Why Do I Do It?
Because I love it. Because it's the thing that gives me energy and purpose.
Because I get it. I've been there. In that dark hole, feeling miserable, lost, and stuck—terrified that I'm wasting my life.
I've been on the floor of my studio apartment in tears, crying so hard I thought my head would crack, wondering how the hell did I get here? as I faced the loss of my divorce and the snot in my throat.
I've sat alone on my sofa, stared out the window, numb of any feeling as I contemplated a future without children. How cruel to then fall in love with a man that didn't want any? It's one heartbreak after another ain't it.
I've let tears trickle from my eyes while thinking "I'll never get there" as I stared into my laptop preparing to reply to another email, another slack, another corporate task, feeling trapped by a steady paycheck while I dreamed of building my practice. Oof.
And Yet
Time and time again, I've clawed my way out.
But I didn't do it alone.
It took commitment and action. It took personal work and risk and the help of coaches, teachers, and spiritual guides.
I've been to the center of my own inferno and I've learned a few things about "going through hell'—and tools to get back to vitality.
I've helped Catherine, Kevin, Amanda and many more break through limits, reimagine a path forward, and move towards it with clarity and confidence.
And I can help you too! I can help you find your footing, regain your strength, and learn to run again. With giddy in your step and peace in your heart.
As Winston Churchil put it, "If you're going through hell, keep going."
(But it's a lot easier with a coach in your corner).
Can you imagine what you might do with a little coaching?
My Approach
Anything we do, I’ve done on myself.
I live it to give it. The frameworks and tools I bring to coaching, I have studied in depth, experienced first hand, and actively use on myself. I’m bringing them to you, because they’ve worked for me. Because we’re each unique, not every one will float your boat or help you shift—and that’s okay. We’re developing a toolbox that is most effective for you.
There are no shortcuts or hacks to personal transformation.
Unless you’re Byron Katie or Eckhart Tolle, don’t expect an overnight awakening. You won’t find me promising fast results or 10x in sales in 30 days, it’s just not my style. Coaching in my experience is much more like the Calvin & Hobbes comic, “day by day, nothing seems to change, but pretty soon, everything is different.”
you are capable.
At the heart of any issue, you have a choice. What are you willing to do?
Methods may include
If it’s helpful, I’m willing to try it. I’m constantly reading and experimenting with the latest research-backed techniques for living my best life. If they work for me, I’ll bring them to you. It’s an evolving craft.
